The village church Nesenitz is the Protestant church of the village of Nesenitz belonging to Klötze . It is one of the seven so-called inverted churches of the Altmark , in which the steeple is located on the east side of the nave instead of the west.

The community belongs to the parish area of Klötze in the parish of Salzwedel of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

architecture

The small church, built from field and brick on a rectangular floor plan, was consecrated in 1489. A bricked up late Gothic can be seen in the north wall of the nave. To the east of the nave, a half- timbered tower with a square floor plan was built in 1716 . The tower is crowned by a slate-covered octagonal tail hood.

The last renovations of the church took place in 1981 and 1998. During the renovation in 1981, the church tower also received a new weather vane.

Interior

The nave is covered with a flat wooden beam ceiling. On the west side there is a gallery with parapet dated 1697. A small carving retable from around 1500 is noteworthy. In the central shrine is the Virgin Mary with a halo, surrounded by Saints Catherine, Anna selbdritt , Margareta and Stephanus. In the wings of the shrine the twelve apostles are depicted in two rows. There is also a small baroque organ prospect in the church . The baptismal bowl dates from 1785 and was donated by Georg-Heinrich Schultze. The sacrament utensils that are still in use today are a donation from the church patron Countess von der Schulenburg . The chandelier, which was subsequently electrified, was donated by Christoph Plath.
