The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church Nobitz stands in the middle of the Nobitz community on a small hill in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

history

A church was mentioned in Nobitz as early as 1166. In the course of time it was designed to the church that it met the requirements of the congregation.

The new village church

In 1819 the church was so damaged by cold weather that it had to be rebuilt. The new foundation stone was laid in 1822 . Construction proceeded rapidly, but on October 18, 1823 at 9 a.m. the church tower collapsed and fell into the nave . After a short time the tower was rebuilt and completed in 1829. The new church received her on September 27, 1829 consecration .

The village church , built in the classical style, is bright and tastefully designed. It forms an elongated square with a flat ceiling and pointed arched windows . The tower with the main entrance is on the west side with access to the galleries . He is square with a helmet . The altar is in the eastern part of the nave . Above is the pulpit . Opposite is the organ made by the organ builder Poppe from Stadtroda . It is no longer playable. A computer organ has been purchased as a temporary replacement. The church was renovated from 1991 to 1993 from the outside.
