Paplitz village church

The Dorfkirche Paplitz is the Protestant church of the village Paplitz , which is a district of the city of Genthin in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt .

The late baroque church building was erected in 1791 by Wilhelm Blankenhorn from Ziesar . The simple, plastered church was built from field stones .

The north facade is interrupted by a risalit-like entrance area, which is closed off with a flat gable. All facade walls are divided by high, rectangular windows. The church tower and the eastern gable with the crooked hip were built in half-timbered construction. While the eastern gable is still there, the tower had to be demolished in 1969 due to its dilapidation. At the turn of the last century, the tower was rebuilt. Again the building was executed as a half-timbered structure, but plastered. The tower, built on a square floor plan, consists of a bell and clock storey and has a pyramid roof.

The interior of the church is spanned with a flat ceiling on a hollow. The church has a gallery running all the way to the eastern wall . A rectangular pulpit carved from stone with figure reliefs ( depicting Christ, Moses and David ) and shell niches, dates back to around 1700 and is located above the altar .

On the southern wall there are three epitaphs from the years 1709, 1712 and 1719 belonging to the von Schierstedt family .

On the north side of the church there is a war memorial erected after the First World War to commemorate the citizens of Paplitz who died in the war .
