The village church Saalborn in the district Saalborn the city Blankenhain in the district Weimarer Land in Thuringia is located in the northern part of the village.

history

The Protestant church from the 12th century has been renovated for several decades. The Romanesque apse was removed in the past. Of the two galleries added in the Baroque period, one was removed in the course of the renovation , which fundamentally improved the acoustics in the hall.

The organ, created by Christian Gerhard in 1834 , was removed for restoration and in 2011-2013 restored by master organ builder Schönfeld from Stadtilm and re-inaugurated on September 28, 2013. It has two manuals, a pedal and twelve registers.

During the preparatory work for the renovation, a hidden lecture cross from 1160 was found.
