The Protestant village church Burgh de Rott in the district of Burgh de Rott the city Blankenhain in the district Weimarer Land in Thuringia is centrally located in the village. It belongs to the parish of Rottdorf in the Blankenhain parish of the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

History and architecture

In 1696 the church fell victim to a fire, after which the major renovation began in 1709. Components of a choir tower church from the late 15th century were used, which in turn had been built using a Romanesque predecessor structure.

1819-1821 they built the new church with tail hood , korbbogigem barrel vault , double galleries , pulpit altar and an organ of the company Schulze for 573 dollars. In 1902 neo-Gothic windows and a new entrance door were installed. The depiction of a mermaid on the weather vane is puzzling .

The dismantling of the pulpit required the exposure of the east wall. Here in 1920 the Weimar painter Oskar Zaborsky painted the Ascension of Christ , in which Christ is depicted with blue eyes and blond hair.

Comprehensive renovation measures are planned, especially on the roof.

Furnishing

A simple gallery pulpit altar dates from the construction period. A retable from the beginning of the 16th century is provided with colored carved figures and painted wings as well as a predella . In the middle shrine a radiant Madonna is depicted flanked by two saints standing on top of each other. The Visitation is depicted on the left, the Ascension on the right and the Annunciation on the outside. A scene from the Lord's Supper can be found on the predella.
