The village church Vockerode is the Protestant church in Vockerode (Saxony-Anhalt).

history

The church, built between 1810 and 1812, is one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic creations under Prince Franz . The eventful church history of the municipality of Vockerode began as early as 1540 with the mention of a first chapel on the Kirchberg. In December 1809 the new building of the church in the neo-Gothic style was started and the topping-out ceremony was celebrated in September 1810. The inauguration of the church, which is still in its shape today, took place on September 27, 1812 and by 1817 the interior of the church was decorated with neo-Gothic ornaments.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the consecration, the church received a new organ from the Dessau organ building company Fleischer und Kindermann. A heating system was also installed. In 1930 the church towers were slated. Another mention of the church in the local chronicle dates back to October 31, 1992. On this day, the renovated church building was handed over to the community during a festive service.

architecture

Prince Franz took over the costs for the construction of the church and commissioned his building director Georg Christoph Hesekiel with the execution.

Even the high, pointed-arched tracery windows convey a slim and upward-reaching impression, which is reinforced by two pointed towers and the very high roof.

The two spiers were once widely visible in the garden realm. A brick front, from which the towers rise, points to Dessau. After Wörlitz, a pointed weather tower crowns the roof, loosened up by small bay windows . The princely coat of arms is affixed above the main entrance door in the direction of Dessau. The very light interior, designed in light colors, is kept simple, as intended as a village church. The tapered ceiling is supported by a mesh vault . A three-sided, white-painted oak gallery, which rests on slender columns, takes up the ogival, neo-Gothic forms. Organ prospectus and wooden pulpit are reminiscent of creations in the neighboring churches of Wörlitz and Riesigk .
