Glenmore was a German heavy metal band from Horb am Neckar that existed from 1982 to 1999 .

history

Jürgen Volk, Wolfgang Heuchert and Dietrich Vogt founded a school band in 1982, which later moved to Glenmore. In 1990 Markus Ratheiser and Olaf Adami completed the band. The first demo appeared in 1991 with five of them . The second demo, released shortly thereafter, caught the attention of the record label Polydor and gave Glenmore a record deal. Before the band finally signed with Polydor, they played in the opening act for bands like Helloween , Sinner and Uriah Heep .

In 1993 the debut album Materialized was released . Following the release, Glenmore toured with Manfred Mann and Saga .

After drummer Vogt left the band in 1994 due to several hearing losses, Jörg Michael - who had previously played for bands such as Stratovarius , Running Wild , Grave Digger and Rage - took over the studio recordings for the second album. Rock Hard called the 1994 album For the Sake of Truth "certainly one of the best German records in the field of melodic heavy rock".

Shortly thereafter, Michael Kasper joined as a new permanent drummer. Another demo was recorded in 1996 called Sacred Mission and Glenmore played at the first Bang Your Head festival. In the same year, guitarist Heuchert, the second founding member, left Glenmore. Running Wild guitarist Thilo Hermann played in his place. Shortly afterwards, Adami and Kasper also left the band. Danny Löble (drums) and Rüdiger Fleck (guitar) took their places.

In the fall of 1997, Glenmore began the first demo recordings for an album planned for 1998. During the recording, guitarist Hermann returned to his old band Running Wild.

In 1999 Glenmore broke up and the remaining band members split into several other bands.
