The “Alter Dreschschopf” village museum in Mumpf , in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland , deals with the history of the village and thus with the life and work of the Mumpfer over time. It is located at Ankengasse 7 in Mumpf.

To the short story of the village

People lived as nomads in the area of the Spitzgraben 15,000 years ago and in settlements on the Cape 5000 years ago. Around 2000 years ago it was the Romans who built manors and military facilities. The first mention of the village as "Mumpher" goes back to 1218.

History of the museum

The initiative for a village museum came into being in 2009, almost 50 years after the village chronicle “History of the Mumpf Community” was published. The old threshing head, which was completely cleared and rebuilt by a group of volunteers, proved to be suitable. In 2012 the village museum was opened to the public.

collection

The village museum collects and shows objects and documents that are closely related to Mumpf and his people. The collection has around 1000 exhibits.
