history
The Dorfstraße is the oldest street in the village and was first mentioned in the history of Malchow in 1344. The street used to be part of the Heerstraße that ran from Berlin via Bernau . The houses that stood on Dorfstrasse were mostly changed in the late 19th century. The former Protestant village church was blown up by the German Wehrmacht on April 21, 1945 so that it could not be occupied by enemy artillery observers; today it only exists as a ruin and stands opposite the former manor house (since the 1980s, parts of it have belonged to the Humboldt University , horticultural section). Around 2013, the Synanon Foundation moved into the previously unused part of the ensemble and restored the historic buildings in small steps.
The remains of the park laid out by Paul von Fuchs in the 17th century extend as far as the Dorfstrasse.
In spite of some renovations, there are a number of cultural monuments along the road, such as the inn, farm workers' houses and the Malchow nature reserve .
The traffic on the Dorfstrasse has not been in good condition for decades, and a continuous speed limit of 30 km / h has increasingly turned out to be a bottleneck. In 2015 the district decided to redesign the traffic route, which is to take place in two construction phases from 2018. First of all, the Berliner Wasserbetriebe (BWB) is to replace the main drinking water line within two years. Thereafter, the construction of the rainwater sewer in the location of the previous drinking water pipeline and the subsequent road construction, while maintaining the location and width , will probably begin in 2020 for a year and a half . In addition, the three bus stops, sidewalks, bike paths and street lighting will be renewed. During the entire construction period, traffic is to be diverted to the north via Rennbahnstraße, Romain-Rolland-Straße, Blankenburger Straße, Heinersdorfer Straße and via Blankenburger Pflasterweg to Bundesstraße 2. To the south, traffic should continue to be led through Dorfstrasse. 13 trees will also be felled and, in coordination with the Lichtenberg district, replacement plantings will be carried out near the route. The fact that the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) would like to maintain bus routes 154 and 259 in Dorfstraße has the effect of extending the construction time .
