Dorit Hanak

Dorit Hanak (born November 15, 1938 in Baden near Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer (lyric coloratura soprano).

Trained at the Academy for Music in Vienna, winner of the Concours International de Chant in Liège. She made her debut in Gelsenkirchen, and from 1958 she was a member of the Graz Opera ensemble for three decades . In addition, she was engaged for many years at the Vienna Volksoper and at the Wiesbaden State Theater . She was heard as part of the Mozart Ensemble of the Vienna State Opera , with which she also made guest appearances in other European countries. Guest performances, opera and concert tours have taken her to the festivals of Aix-en-Provence , Gent, Glyndebourne and Milwaukee, to many important opera houses and concert halls all over Europe, such as Barcelona (Gran Teatro del Liceu), Berlin, Brussels (La Monnaie ), Hamburg, London Royal Albert Hall and the Wiener Musikverein. In the USA she performed a. a. in Chicago, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, as well as in Canada, Israel and Kenya. Dorit Hanak celebrated successes in over 120 roles on the opera stage, her star role was Sophie in Richard Strauss' " Der Rosenkavalier ". You can still experience her voice today in Eurovision programs , opera and operetta films, TV shows, on records and for radio. In doing so, she met artists such as Peter Alexander , Nicolai Gedda , Paul Hörbiger , Udo Jürgens , Max Lorenz , Giuseppe Di Stefano and Robert Stolz . Dorit Hanak teaches today at the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS).
