Dornholz is a desert in the southern Saale-Orla district in Thuringia . The former scattered settlement Dornholz belonged to the then municipality Venzka , a current district of Hirschberg .

history

  • In 1757 the village was first recorded on a gift card from the Lobenstein lordship.
  • In 1780 and 1781 the place is shown under Haardt, StA Hirschberg - manuscript page 433.
  • In 1794 the place is mentioned in Thuringian Sippe 7/1941 p. 780.
  • The village is mentioned in 1814 in the postal dictionary, p. 780.

In 1965, the border security measures of the GDR made it desolate. The village of Dornholz was then destroyed on the inner-German border in 1982 by border troops from the GDR .
