from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dorothy Taubman (born August 16, 1917 - April 3, 2013 ) was an American music teacher and founder of the Taubman Institute in New York.

Live and act

She developed the "Taubman method" (Taubman approach) for piano playing, named after her. Their approach is based on the analysis of the movements required for virtuoso and musical expression. She earned her reputation for the high rate of recovery in the treatment of injuries caused by piano playing. The method created controversy because it called into question certain principles of traditional piano lessons regarding their physiological justification.
