During the Second World War , the building was badly damaged in an air raid on November 4, 1944. From 1948 on, some makeshift repairs followed. The architect Wilhelm Schrader was commissioned with the reconstruction in 1949 . After a complete redesign of the interior of the church, the renewed Dorper Church could be used again on March 15, 1953. Extensive restoration work was carried out between 2005 and 2008.
