Dortmund brewery district

The Dortmund brewery district stretched on Rheinische Strasse, from the Westentor to the Dorstfelder Bridge in the west of Dortmund city ​​center.

Rheinische Strasse

The Rheinische Strasse was also known as the "Beer Street" and "Beer Mile". Several large breweries stretched along it, parallel to the railroad, side by side and one behind the other.

On Westentor standing Dortmunder Union Brewery with its 1926 built tower ( Dortmunder U ) and "crushed" visually the next location Lindenbrauerei facing the Dortmund Thier brewery stood at Hiltropwall.

In the south of the city center, the Dortmund Victoria Brewery (No. 21), the Feldschlösschen Brewery Boemcke & Hueck (No. 54) and the Kronenburg Brewery (No. 81) had their facilities along Märkische Straße . A little to the west of it (Hagener Straße / Ardeystraße) was the Bergschlösschen brewery Wencker & Co.

In the southwest - west of the Kreuzviertel in the Harnackstraße / Querstraße / Im Gildenpark area - was the Dortmund Guild Brewery . The Tremonia brewery F. Lehmkuhl was located near today's Tremoniapark .
