Double V
Double V Latin Formation Team (also just called Double V for short ) refers to the Latin formations of the Dutch Stichting Formation Danssport Hoorn. The Double VA team is multiple masters in formation dancing in the Netherlands and the Benelux countries .
history
The Latin formations go back to a show formation that was founded in the mid-1970s by Vera Hauwert in the dance school of Peter Verbiest in Hoorn , the Netherlands . In the early 1980s, the formation took part in national competitions under the name "Double V". The name is based on the last name of the owner of the dance school from which the formation emerged, Peter Verbiest, and the first name of the trainer at the time, Vera Hauwert.
In 1987 the foundation "Stichting Formation Danssport Hoorn" was founded, under whose roof the dance sport activities of Double V are brought together.
A-team
The A-Team originally emerged from the dance school's show formation. It took part in formation competitions from the early 1980s. The formation achieved second place in the Dutch Grand Grix season 1990/91 with the musical theme "Espana" and thus qualified for participation in the European championship of the Latin formation. In October she became Dutch master with the musical theme "Heatwave".
In 1993 the formation was reorganized. The coach was Marco Houtzager, until then an active dancer in the team. He coached the team until 1996. Arthur van Louvezijn and Vera Hauwert took over the management of the team, which however disbanded after the 1996 World Cup in Vilnius, Lithuania . The formation had only just missed the final round with the 7th place after it had reached the 5th place at the European championship of the Latin formations in Bremerhaven in the same year.
In 1997, a new Latin formation was formed from the B-team and the remaining dancers of the A-team. This danced to the musical theme "Brasil", which was the theme of the formation in previous years. After the European Championship Late information in Polish Warsaw in June 1997, the formation broke up again.
After a year break, a double VA team returned to formation competitions at the end of 1998. The coaches were Marieke de Boer and Matthijs Mennes, who ran the team together with Vera Hauwert. The musical theme was again “Espana”, to which the Double V teams had already danced once in the early years. The following season the musical theme was “Indian Summer”. As in 1998, the team achieved second place at the national championships in 1999. Since then, the Double VA team has regularly occupied one of the first places in national and Benelux championships. From 2001 to 2013 the team was continuously Dutch champions and from 2004 to 2011 Benelux champions (after 2011 there were no more Benelux championships).
The trainers of the formation, which is currently dancing to the musical theme "Legends", are Debby Kuperus, Tim van Leeuwen and Karin Terpstra.

The team reached 2001 to 2005 and 2009 the finals at the European Championships of Latin Formations and 2003 and 2004 at World Championships of Latin Formations.
B and C team
A B-Team as a youth team was set up in 1993, which was trained by Arthur van Louvezijn, a former dancer of the A-Team. In 1994 a C-Team followed, which was initially trained by Vera Hauwert and later merged with the B-Team.
After a new formation was founded in 1997 and the old B-Team was absorbed into it, a B-Team was founded as a junior team in the same year. In 2013 the team took part in the European Championship and the World Championship of Latin Formations alongside the A-Team.
The B-Team is trained by Thijs Bijleveld, Iris Dorland, Lina Bongiovanni and Matthijs Mennes. The musical theme is "True Colors".
