Douglas Raymond Acomb (born May 15, 1949 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League .

Career

Doug Acomb began his career as a hockey player with the York Steel, for which he played in the 1965/66 season in 40 games in the Ontario Hockey Association . He then played from 1965 to 1969 for the Toronto Marlboros in the OHA and won the Memorial Cup in 1967 with his team. At the beginning of the 1969/70 season Acomb was allowed to play two games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League , before he spent the rest of the season with the Tulsa Oilers from the Central Hockey League and the Buffalo Bisons from the American Hockey League .

After a season with the Phoenix Roadrunners in the Western Hockey League (1970/71), Acomb returned for another three years to the OHA, where he played for the Barrie Flyers . The Canadian spent his only season outside of North America in 1974/75 at Wiener EV in Austria . The season he completed, however, with the Port Huron Flags from the International Hockey League . Acomb finally ended his career in 1976 with his ex-club from the OHA, the Barrie Flyers.
