Douglas Dailey

Douglas "Doug" Dailey (born April 1, 1944 in Orrell Park, Liverpool ) is a former English cyclist , trainer and current cycling official.

Athletes, coaches and managers

Doug Dailey was an amateur cyclist from the early 1960s to the late 1970s ; he raced almost exclusively in Great Britain. Twice, in 1972 and 1976, he was British amateur road racing champion. He won the Mersey Two Days three times, the Tour of Ireland twice and the Eddie Soens | Eddie Soens Memorial twice .

From 1986 to 1996 Dailey was the UK national coach , then he took on the position of logistics manager in the British cycling association. As such, he prepared the British team for the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games .

Dailey trained as a nurse .

Honors

Douglas Dailey received the Merseyside Golden Cycle Award twice, in 1969 and 1984. In 2008 he was awarded the Order of Member of the Order of the British Empire and in 2009 he was inducted into the British Cycling Hall of Fame .
