Douglas Gresham (born November 10, 1945 in New York City , New York , USA ) is a British author and film producer .

biography

Douglas Gresham is the younger of two sons of the two writers William Lindsay Gresham and Joy Davidman . After divorcing Gresham, his mother married British writer CS Lewis , who adopted Douglas and David in 1956.

After Lewis' death in November 1963, his brother Warren Hamilton Lewis administered the estate. He passed the rights to the works, of which The Chronicles of Narnia are best known today, ten years later to David and Douglas Gresham.

Gresham's childhood memories were written down on paper in Lenten Lands: My Childhood with Joy Davidman and CS Lewis in 1988 . Parts of it formed the template for Shadowlands , a 1994 film in which Anthony Hopkins as CS Lewis and Debra Winger as Joy Davidman can be seen. Douglas Gresham is portrayed in the biography of Joseph Mazzello .

In 2005 he took over the co-production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The King of Narnia and continues this task in 2008 in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian of Narnia .

He is also present in both films in supporting roles.

Douglas Gresham, though born a Jew , converted to Christianity ; his brother David, with whom he had drifted apart, returned to Judaism after Lewis' death .
