Doune stable

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Doune Stable is a stable near the Scottish town of Doune in the Stirling Council Area . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

The stables were built between 1807 and 1809. The Scottish architect William Stirling is responsible for the design . The Doune Stable is largely isolated in the hamlet of Buchany around two kilometers northwest of Doune. The A84 trunk road , which runs directly to the south, connects the building to the road network.

There are four elongated buildings that completely enclose an inner courtyard, resulting in a square floor plan. Along the main facade, the masonry consists of layered masonry made of stone blocks. A tower with an octagonal floor plan rises above the gateway on the southwest side . The clock tower closes with a short helmet. The clock shows the year of construction 1809. The two-story buildings close with gable roofs . The southwest flank, which closes with a hipped roof , is an exception .
