Dov Schwartzman
Berel "Dov" Schwartzman (born 1921 in Nevel , Russia ; died November 6, 2011 in Jerusalem ) was a Russian- American ultra-Orthodox rabbi .
Life
Schwartzman, son of Rabbi Yehoshua Zev Schwartzman, studied at the Hebron Yeshiva . In his first marriage he was married to the daughter of Aharon Kotler , the founder of the Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood Township, New Jersey ; the divorced marriage had six children. His second marriage also had six children.
In 1955, Dov Schwartzman was the founder and dean (Rosh Yeshiva) of the Bais Hatalmud , a Talmudic college ( Yeshiva ) in Sanhedria Murhevet near Jerusalem. Together with Shmuel Kamenetzky, he also founded the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia in 1965 .
