Downpush procedure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the downpush method [ ˈdaʊnpʊʃ- ], data is transmitted to the end customer via satellite. Among other things, it is used as the basis for video-on-demand (VoD).

The data are (planned include movies) in the DVB - transport stream incorporated and distributed. The customer's recipient saves this on a hard drive, for example. To activate the data, the ID of the requesting customer must be built into the file and the customer must have the file activated. The file can only be used after the synchronization. As a rule, provider-specific software is used which must be installed beforehand or which requires certain devices.

Currently only offers via DVB-S (satellite) are planned, but DVB-C (cable), DVB-T (terrestrial) and DVB-H (handheld) are also possible.
