It takes place annually on the fourth Sunday in October. The kite run was held for the first time in 2002. The route is 26 km long, with about 1,000 meters of altitude to be mastered. The organizer and organizer of this fun run has been the Siebengebirgs-Drachen e. V. Start and finish are in Thomasberg . The route touches the Great Ölberg , the Bridge of Sighs, the Lohrberg , the Löwenburg , the Drachenfels , the Nachtigallental and the Petersberg . Since 2013, the start and finish have been at Gut Buschhof in Thomasberg, in previous years the start and finish were in the center of Thomasberg. By choosing the new location, the route is almost completely car-free, and from the start you are on a landscape run, sometimes with a cross-country character. The number of participants is limited to 750 runners, as the route mainly runs over trails and forest paths.
