Dragan Šutanovac ( Serbian - Cyrillic Драган Шутановац ; born July 24, 1968 in Belgrade , Yugoslavia ) is a chairman of the Democratic Party and former Serbian Defense Minister .

Life

He graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Belgrade University in the field of hydropower. He did his further training in the USA and Germany . In 2000 he was an envoy to the European Parliament in Strasbourg . From November 1, 2001 to February 2003, he was assistant to the interior minister. From 2002 to 2003 he was chairman of the Defense and Security Committee. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Serbian parliament . From May 15, 2007 to July 27, 2012 he was Serbian Defense Minister ; his successor is Aleksandar Vučić .

He is married and has two children.
