After defeating Goku Boo and peace reigns back on earth, Son reluctantly works as a farmer. Chichi wants him to earn money to support his family. Meanwhile, Mister Satan receives a World Peace Prize endowed with 100 million Zeni for allegedly saving the world. He promptly passes this prize on to Son Goku, who then receives permission from his wife to quit his job and train on Master Kaio's planet. Son Goten spends the day with Trunks, looking for a nice present for his new sister-in-law Videl. Meanwhile, the god of destruction Beerus wakes up after a decade of sleep and tries to recall a vision of a strong opponent.

While Son Goku begins his training with Master Kaio, Vegeta goes on a day trip with Bulma and Trunks. In doing so, he keeps a promise to Trunks that he made after Trunks managed to land a punch at him during training. However, he quickly gets tired of this "waste of time" and returns to his training. After Beerus destroyed a planet of a primitive alien race, he remembers the name of the powerful enemy from his dream: the "Super Saiyan God".

From his servant Whis, Beerus learns of Son Goku, one of the last of the Saiyan and the one who defeated Freezer. The two make their way to Master Kaios Planet to learn more about the Super Saiyan God from Son Goku. Master Kaio notices that Beerus is on his way to him and worries that Goku will not know how to behave in Beerus' presence and tries in vain to get Goku to leave his planet. On Earth, meanwhile, Son Goku's friends and family gather on a cruise ship to celebrate Bulma's birthday. Only Vegeta doesn't feel like it and prefers to train.

At Bulma's birthday party, Trunks and Son Goten sneak into the storage room to admire the prizes for the upcoming bingo game. In addition to extravagant prizes such as an airplane or a stately castle, the main prize is all seven Dragon Balls. Not far away are Prince Pilaw and his followers Mai and Shu, completely starved, on a small island in search of treasure. When Prince Pilaw's Dragon Radar starts up, the three immediately try to reach the ship, which they finally manage with the help of Trunks and Son Goten. There, after some hesitation, the three of them allow themselves to be served with plenty of food.

Beerus and Whis have arrived on Master Kaio's planet and ask Son Goku about the Super Saiyan God. Disappointed that Son Goku doesn't know anything about this, they want to go to Earth to question Vegeta - the other last surviving Saiyan. Son Goku, informed of Beerus strength by Master Kaio, asks Beerus beforehand to compete with him in battle. Step by step, Son Goku goes through his Super Saiyan transformations, but Beerus effortlessly manages to evade his attacks. Eventually, Beerus ends the fight by incapacitating three-time Super Saiyan Son Goku with two blows. Nevertheless, he recognizes Son Goku as a formidable opponent, albeit unworthy of a god.

Beerus arrives with Whis at Bulma's birthday party to ask Vegeta about the Super Saiyan God. He is disappointed to find that Vegeta doesn't seem to know anything about it either. Bulma notices them and invites them to stay at the party. Vegeta, who knows of Beerus' strength, learns from Master Kaio that he himself had easily defeated Son Goku. He tries to keep the god of destruction happy so that he doesn't destroy the earth on a whim. When Beerus asks Boo to give him some pudding, and Boo insolently refuses, the god is angry. A fight ensues between Beerus and Boo, which Beerus easily wins.

Beerus, who is terribly disappointed and angry that he has not found the Super Saiyan God and has been denied the pudding, sets out to destroy the earth, but then lets Whis persuade him to wait for him can enjoy the delicious dishes at Bulma's birthday party a little longer. Gotenks, C 18, Tenshinhan, Piccolo and Son Gohan try to render Beerus harmless, but all fail. Vegeta also suffers a humiliating defeat at first. Bulma ends up getting too colorful: she slaps Beerus in the face for ruining her birthday. When the latter strikes back, Vegeta's fuses blow. To protect his wife, unexpected powers awaken in him.

Although Vegeta in his anger manages to oppose Beerus more than Son Goku did before, he loses. Amused by this fight, Beerus wants to give the earth another chance - also because it is a shame about the good food. He challenges Oolong to a game of scissors, stones and paper that will decide the fate of the earth. Since Oolong loses this game and Whis has finished eating, Beerus sets out to destroy the planet one more time. At the last second, however, Son Goku appears, who gets Beerus to grant another reprieve. He promises to find out what a Super Saiyan god is by asking Shenlong about it.

With the seven Dragon Balls, which are already on the cruise ship as the main prize for the bingo game planned for later, Son Goku summons the dragon Shenlong. From this they learn that a Super Saiyan God can be created by five pure-hearted Saiyan holding hands and pouring "their hearts" into another Saiyajin. They are disappointed to find that with Son Goku, Vegeta, Son Gohan, Son Goten and Trunks, there are only five Saiyajin left. But then Videl announces that she is pregnant and therefore carries another Saiyajin. This finally allows the ritual to be performed and Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan god.

Beerus and Goku want to test how strong a Super Saiyan god is and fight. If Goku wins, Beerus wants to spare the earth. According to Beerus, this will not happen anyway, since there is no one in this universe who is stronger than him. At first the fight is very one-sided in favor of Beerus, but little by little Son Goku manages to control his unfamiliar powers. After successfully delivering a few painful blows to Beerus, he happily announces that he can now begin to fight properly.

The fight between Beerus and Son Goku is now more evenly, but Son Goku quickly realizes that Beerus is still holding back. He's waiting for Goku to get his new powers completely under control so that he can fight an equal opponent. Tired of waiting, Beerus finally overpowers Son Goku and transports him into space. From there he wants to destroy the earth, but Son Goku can intercept Beerus' attack with a Kamehameha. Beerus then attacks the exhausted Son Goku, who falls back to earth. There he pulls himself together again and returns to Beerus with renewed courage to fight. He announces that he now wants to fight with all his might.

Goku and Beerus are now fighting at such a high level that the energy they emit threatens to destroy the universe. In doing so, they do not show each other any nakedness and fight absolutely equally. The Kaioshins attempt to telepathically get the two to stop the fight, but the two are too engrossed in the fight to listen to them. After they have fired particularly strong attacks on each other, they are both swallowed by a large flash of light, while the resulting shock wave can be felt throughout the universe and sometimes causes devastating damage.

After a tremendous flash of light went out from the two fighters, the observers of the fight are surprised to have survived it unscathed. It turns out that Beerus used 100% of his strength to negate the shock wave. He announces to Goku that he will now really fight with full strength, even if Son Goku is actually only a mortal. But Goku still manages to keep up with Beerus. But when he then loses his Super Saiyan god form and reverts to a normal Super Saiyan, Beerus sees the fight already won. But then Beerus is surprised to find that Son Goku has not lost any of its strength through his reconversion.

Son Goku can still stand up to Beerus without his super Saiyan god powers, but eventually he runs out of breath and he falls back to earth exhausted. Beerus now wants to keep his promise and destroy the earth, but suddenly falls asleep from exhaustion. Whis thanks Son Goku for having amused Beerus and says that by the time Beerus wakes up he will have forgotten that he wanted to destroy the earth. As a precaution, however, you should have enough pudding ready in case Beerus and Whis come back. Then Whis leaves the earth with Beerus. Shortly afterwards, however, it turns out that Beerus only pretended to be asleep, since he didn't really want to destroy the earth.

Son Goku wants to train with Master Kaio again, but Chichi does not allow him. Instead, he should look for work and earn money again, since she has already spent the 100 million Zeni. Mr. Satan gives a press conference at which he explains that the tremors and tremors of the past few days came from his fight with Beerus, which he finally defeated by turning himself into a god. Son Goku is working as a farmer again, but is training in secret. Vegeta has also resumed his training. He tries to become stronger than a Super Saiyan god without help. Meanwhile, Bulma takes Whis to eat to protect her and her family should Beerus want to destroy the earth again. When Whis and Vegeta meet, Whis says that Vegeta can become even stronger than Son Goku if he learns to better control his ki. Vegeta then begs Whis to train him. Reluctant at first, Whis lets himself be softened after Vegeta gives him the “best food on planet earth”: instant ramen . He agrees to train Vegeta and takes him to his and Beerus' homeworld.

It's been a year since Vegeta left Earth to train with Whis. Videl has since given birth to her daughter Pan. Chichi tries to keep her granddaughter away from martial arts so that she can later find a decent job. Goku therefore tries to be a good role model for his granddaughter and to pursue a regular job. But when he learns that Vegeta has been training with Whis for half a year, he wants to go there too. During one of his visits to Bulma, Whis immediately agrees to train Son Goku as well. Although Chichi is strictly against it, Son Goku leaves the earth shortly afterwards with Whis. Chichi quickly accepts it, and realizes that this is Son Goku's way.

Meanwhile, Sorbet, leader of Freezer's remaining army, struggles to maintain the empire. Without Freezer, they fail to put down rebellions and gradually lose power. In addition, a mysterious duo has emerged that bears a striking resemblance to Beerus and Whis and is destroying planets in the universe.

Sorbet decides to revive Freezer with the Dragon Balls, and therefore goes to Earth, not knowing where the Namek's new home planet is. He quickly tracks down the Dragon Balls, all of which just happened to have been collected by Prince Pilaw, Mai and Shu, and takes them from the three of them. Mai and Shu consume two of the three wishes by quickly asking for ice cream and some money, but Sorbet still achieves its goal: it brings back freezer from the dead.

The freshly revived Freezer wants to take revenge for his death and destroy the earth. He trained for the first time in his life for four months. Meanwhile, Son Goku and Vegeta are making great strides in training with Whis. Beerus wakes up from his sleep through the noise. Shortly before the arrival of Freezer and his 1,000-strong army on Earth, the intergalactic police officer Jaco Bulma, who he knows knows the man who killed Freezer, warns. Bulma ensures that Freezer is already expected by Piccolo, Son Gohan, Tenshinhan, Krillin and the Lord of the Turtles.

Freezer's army, though vastly outnumbered, has no chance against Earth's defenders. Finally, the fighter Tagoma announces that he will personally destroy Gohan and his allies after inflicting a serious wound on Gohan. Tagoma was Freezer's training partner during his four months of training and boasts of being significantly stronger than Commander Ginyu, Freezer's former strongest man. In fact, Ginyu himself watches what is happening on the battlefield, but still in the body of a frog. Meanwhile, Vegeta and Goku unsuspectingly continue their training.

Tagoma first dominates the fight against the Z-Fighters, but then loses to Gotenks in Super Saiyan form. While Gotenks splits up again into Son Goten and Trunks, Commander Ginyu takes possession of Tagoma's body. Ginyu continues Tagoma's fight, and is even stronger in Tagoma's body than Tagoma himself. Only in Super Saiyan form does Gohan finally defeat Commander Ginyu. Gohan cannot do anything against Freezer, who then intervenes personally, as he has not trained for years. When Freezer wants to give Gohan a fatal blow, Piccolo jumps in between.

Freezer's attack kills Piccolo. Son Gohan mobilizes his last reserves of strength in anger. Finally, Bulma's message reaches Goku and Vegeta. Due to the massive energy that Gohan releases, Goku can teleport himself and Vegeta to earth despite the great distance. Just as Gohan collapses from exhaustion, the two reach the battlefield. Vegeta immediately kills Ginyu without any effort, and Goku prepares to fight against Freezer, who begins the fight directly in his fourth transformation stage.

The fight between Goku and Freezer begins. But both hold back, and instead throw mean things at each other. Freezer says that after his victory he wants to destroy all Dragon Balls so that Piccolo and everyone else he will kill cannot be resuscitated. Finally Vegeta intervenes, annoyed, because both should talk less and fight better. Goku then transforms himself into the blue super Saiyan god form, which he got to know during the fight with Beerus and which he has now mastered without additional help.

Freezer also draws level and transforms itself into its new, golden form. In this form, Freezer proves to be superior. During the fight, Beerus and Whis also reach the earth to claim the delicious dessert that Bulma had promised them when she called Goku and Vegeta. However, Beerus does not want to intervene in the fight. On the way, the two briefly encountered Champa and Vados, their counterparts from the neighboring sixth universe.

With Freezer dominating the fight, Gohan and Krillin try to convince Vegeta to fight together with Goku. Like Goku, he is too proud to fight an opponent in pairs. After all, he draws Goku's attention to the weakness of Freezer's new form: it requires too much energy. So Goku plays for time until Freezer finally loses his strength from exhaustion. Now the tide turns and he orders Freezer to leave the earth and transforms himself back into his basic form. In this he is shot from behind by sorbet and seriously wounded. When Freezer Son Goku wants to give the coup de grace, Vegeta finally intervenes in the fight.

While Krillin heals Son Goku with a Senzu bean, Vegeta transforms into a blue-haired super Saiyan god. In contrast to Goku, he achieved this form through hard training alone. The already weakened Freezer has nothing to oppose Vegeta and eventually destroys the earth in order to escape. Only the spectators of the battle for Whis survive as it creates a force field. Goku regrets not killing Freezer when he got the chance, whereupon Whis gives him a second chance by using his ability to turn back time three minutes. Son Goku kills Freezer before he can destroy the earth. After Piccolo was revived with the Dragon Balls, everyone celebrated the victory. Gohan decides to start training again so that he can protect his family himself next time.

Son Goku and Vegeta are training again on Beerus' home planet when suddenly Beerus' and Whis' twins from the neighboring universe, Champa and Vados, appear there to visit. While eating together, Champa is enthusiastic about the instant ramen that are served to him. When he realizes that this does not exist in his home universe, he wants to fight with Beerus for the earth and its delicious food. However, since a direct battle between the two could wipe out their respective universes, he suggests having five representatives of the sixth and seventh universes compete against each other. If Beerus' team wins, Champa promises him six of the seven almighty, planet-sized "Super Dragon Balls".

The rules for the tournament between the two universes are based on those of Tenkaichi Budokai , with the fighters also having to pass a simple intelligence test to rule out brainless monsters. While Champa and Vados prepare the venue and search for fighters for their team, Bulma builds a radar to track down the last super dragon ball that Champa has not yet found. She asks Jaco to help her with the search because, as a space policeman, he owns a fast spaceship. Beerus allows Vegeta and Goku to choose two more fighters to compete alongside them in the tournament. The fifth team member is said to be a fighter named Monaka - the strongest fighter he has ever fought, according to Beerus.

Son Goku and Vegeta's first choice for the members of their team is Boo. He agrees to a wish with the Super Dragon Balls, which he in turn wants to pass on to Mr. Satan. The last member is said to be Piccolo, who is currently getting Son Gohan back into shape. Gohan also wants to take part in the tournament, but he has an important conference that day. After the team is complete, Goku and Vegeta head to the room of Spirit and Time to prepare.

The limited range of the Dragonball Radar makes it difficult for Bulma to track down the last Super Dragonball. To help her search further, Jaco brings her to the omniscient Zuno. At first the two do not get an appointment, but then Jaco recognizes a wanted criminal in Zuno's current customer and arrests him. Because of the vacated space on the waiting list, Jaco and Bulma can ask their questions after all. In this way, they learn that there are not seven Super Dragon Balls in the sixth and seventh universes, as expected, but only in both in total. Since they use up their remaining questions awkwardly, they ultimately do not find out where the last Dragon Ball is.

On the day of the big tournament, Whis will bring the representatives of the seventh universe and their families and friends to the planet where the tournament will take place. Son Goku is looking forward to getting to know new strong fighters, starting with his team member Monaka, who, according to Beerus, should be significantly stronger than Son Goku, even if he doesn't look much good. The fighters of the sixth universe include a Saiyan and someone who bears a striking resemblance to Freezer. Since Boo fell asleep during the intelligence test and thus could not qualify for the tournament, Son Goku's team already had one man less at the beginning of the tournament. The first fight should now take place between Son Goku and the bear-like Botamo.

Son Goku's first fight is over quickly. At first he has problems against Botamo, since all attacks ricochet off its elastic body without being damaged. Son Goku then simply pushes him over and drags him out of the ring. His second opponent is Frost, Freezer's counterpart from the sixth universe. In contrast to Freezer, Frost seems like a nice person. After assessing each other, Frost transforms into his final form and Son Goku into a simple, golden-haired Super Saiyan. Frost is clearly inferior to Son Goku at the beginning, but then uses a mysterious secret technique through which Son Goku suddenly has a dizzy spell and can easily be kicked out of the ring.

After Goku lost, Piccolo takes on Frost. Just like Son Goku before him, Piccolo can keep up well with Frost and quickly manages to position Frost in such a way that his victory with one of his special attacks should be as good as certain. But then Frost also uses his special technique on Piccolo and thereby defeats him. However, Jaco notices that Frost's secret attack is actually a hidden needle that he uses to poison his opponents. Since guns are forbidden, Frost is disqualified and Piccolo declared the winner. At Vegeta's request, however, Piccolo gives up and Frost's disqualification is reversed, as Vegeta wants to defeat Frost himself in a fight.

Although Frost is still swinging big speeches before fighting Vegeta, Vegeta can easily defeat him in seconds. After the fight it is decided that Son Goku can compete again after Vegeta, because he was illegally defeated. For the next fight, Vegeta against the metal man Magetta, Champa builds a barrier around the ring and explains that touching this barrier counts as being thrown out of the ring. Magetta turns out to be very strong and resilient, but is significantly slower than Vegeta. However, it emits a lot of heat, which builds up in the barrier and heats the ring, which gradually causes problems for Vegeta.

Magetta's fiery lava breath consumes the oxygen in the barrier faster than it can flow in, causing Vegeta to slowly run out of air. After the exhausted Vegeta escaped a ring-out by a hair's breadth, he angrily releases so much energy that the barrier around the ring is shattered and he can breathe freely again. Then he uses his special attack Final Flash which destroys parts of the ring and pushes Magetta to the edge of it. From there he pushes Magetta out of the ring and wins, also because the sensitive Magetta was thrown off balance by an insult to Vegeta. The next fighter for the sixth universe will be the Saiyan Cabba.

In their basic form, Vegeta and Cabba are practically equally strong. In order to be able to fight seriously, Vegeta therefore asks Cabba to transform himself into a Super Saiyan. He confesses that he doesn't know how to do it and asks Vegeta to teach him. He then apparently gets angry, turns into a Super Saiyan, mercilessly beats Cabba and provokes him until he gets angry and turns into a Super Saiyan. After he calmed down, he realizes that Vegeta only provoked him to teach him the transformation. When asked to outdo him in the future, Vegeta defeated Cabba in his blue-haired form with one blow. This leaves the sixth universe with only one fighter - Hit the assassin .

Hit is clearly superior to Vegeta. Although he fights in his strongest, blue-haired form, he cannot keep up with hits' speed and is ultimately defeated without landing a single hit. Since Jaco noticed with his good eyes that Hit always disappears for a moment before his attacks, the team of Universe 7 can figure together that Hit must have the ability to stop time for 0.1 s. Son Goku uses this knowledge and can block hits attacks by predicting where Hit will be in 0.1 s. After he even managed to land a hit on Hit, both fighters get ready to fight seriously.

Son Goku transforms into his blue-haired form and is superior to Hit because he can still predict its movements while time is stopped. Hit, who has never had to train or otherwise improve, then manages to keep the time longer and longer, which is why Son Goku can no longer react quickly enough to his attacks. On the verge of being defeated, Son Goku finally uses an unfinished secret technique that he actually wanted to use against Beerus: a ten-fold Kaioken while he is a blue-haired Super Saiyan . This is a huge strain on his body, but it also makes him immeasurably strong and fast, so that Hit can no longer keep up with him again.

Son Goku gets more and more to feel that the Kaioken is a great burden on his body and that he probably cannot win. When he also realizes that Hit's fighting style is based on techniques that are supposed to kill the opponent and that he must therefore hold back in this tournament, Son Goku voluntarily gives up the fight. As the last fighter of the seventh universe, Monaka now has to compete, who, according to Beerus, should be stronger than Son Goku. In fact, it was a lie to spur Vegeta and Son Goku on, in truth Monaka is a rather weak fighter. In order to return the favor to Son Goku for becoming stronger in the fight against him, and to wipe out Champa, Hit lets himself be defeated by Monaka. So Beerus and the seventh universe is the winner of the tournament. Champa is furious and on the verge of killing all of his fighters when suddenly the King of All appears.

Zeno, the king of all , announces that he enjoyed the tournament and announces that a tournament will soon be held between all twelve universes. Since Champa will need his fighters again for this tournament, he doesn't kill them. Bulma uses her Dragon Radar to determine that the abandoned planet on which the tournament took place is actually the last missing Super Dragon Ball - with a slightly dirty surface. Now that they have all seven dragon balls, Whis can summon the dragon and give Beerus his wish in the language of the gods. He later claims that he would have liked a more comfortable bed, but in fact he has revived humanity in the sixth universe so that Champa can now enjoy the delicious earthly food as well.

To celebrate the tournament she won, Bulma held a victory ceremony. At the beginning of the celebration, it becomes clear to those present that Monaka is really very weak when Trunks accidentally bumps into him and causes him great pain. In order to keep up the lie, at least for Son Goku, who appeared late for the party, and to motivate him further, all party guests try to prevent a fight between Monaka and Son Goku, who has long been waiting to test his great powers. During this time he wants to take care of his granddaughter Pan. However, she is promptly kidnapped by an accident by Pilaf, Mai and Shu. After a short adventure with the three of them, Pan returns home unscathed.

Trunks and Son Goten accidentally lock themselves in the hold of Monaka's spaceship while Bulma is delivering a package. He only notices this on the planet Potaufeu, where he has to make his next delivery. There the three meet a gang of criminals who are just about to steal Monaka's customers his "superhuman water", which is said to give great powers. Despite Son Goten and Trunk's intervention, the gang finally got to the water. In the meantime, Vegeta and Jaco also arrive at Potaufeu to pick up Son Goten and Trunks. Vegeta defeats the majority of the gang, who then dissolves into a purple liquid that briefly envelops Vegeta. Vegeta collapses powerless as the liquid takes Vegeta's shape.

Vegeta and co. find out what superhuman water is all about: Originally a weapon to defend the planet, it has the ability to copy attackers exactly and rob them of all their skills and powers in the process. But since it also absorbed the malice of the attackers and turned against its creators, it had to be sealed. People who have been robbed of their strength by the water dissolve into nothing after a few minutes. Son Goten and Trunks try to defeat the Vegeta copy to save the life of the original, but even as three-time Super Saiyan Gotenks they have no chance. In the meantime, however, Son Goku has also learned of the fight and teleports himself to Potaufeu, where he faces the Vegeta copy.

Son Goku fights against the Vegeta copy, which arose from the superhuman water. The real Vegeta has to stand by and watch, deprived of his strength, and is torn between who he wants to see as the winner. A victory for the copy would mean his death, but on the other hand he doesn't want Son Goku to be stronger than him. Trunks and Son Goten try to destroy the core of the Superhuman Water, to which all parts of the Superhuman Water are connected, in order to save Trunks' father. Ultimately, it is Monaka who happens to succeed in destroying the core. This immobilizes the copy, making it easy for Son Goku to kill.

Trunks is faced with a powerful opponent named Black that he is no match for. Once again he wants to travel back in time to get help from all the fighters who have already died in his time. His mother Bulma manages to make just enough fuel to travel back in time before Black kills her. When Trunks then wants to start the trip with his partner Mai, Black attacks again.

The time machine lands in front of the Capsule Corporation building, where it is immediately discovered by the young Trunks and the pilaf troop, who made friends with Trunks and now live there. While Bulma summons Vegeta and Son Goku, the four speculate who the mysterious unconscious might be. When the Trunks from the future finally wakes up in the presence of Vegeta, Son Goku and also Beerus and Whis, who have come along out of interest, he immediately goes at Son Goku in a rage.

Trunks tells of the powerful enemy Black, from whom he fled from the future. This calls itself Son Goku and looks very similar to Son Goku. Before doing this, Bulma has to understand how the time machine works in order to be able to produce fuel for another journey. In the meantime, Son Goku tests Trunks' strength and finds that he can now transform into a two-time Super Saiyan. In the future, the ring on Black's hand reacts to the point from which Trunks' time machine started, tearing a rift in space and time.

Black shows up in the present and is immediately drawn into a fight by Son Goku. Before the two can seriously fight each other, Black is pulled back into the future through the rift. But not without destroying Trunks' time machine first. Bulma, however, promptly digs out the old time machine in which Cell had arrived at the time, which opens the way to the future again. Whis explains that he saw a "time ring" on Black's hand, which Black probably pulled through the space-time warp struck by Trunks' time machine. When the rift closed again, Black was pushed back into his own time. Whis further explains that time rings are actually only worn by Kaioshin.

The Trunks from the future happily notices the young Mai, and tells her about her future self, who played a central role in the fight against Black. Beerus asks Whis to investigate Black, as he looks familiar and the fact that Black has a time ring strikes him as strange.

The pilaf troop supports Bulma with the repairs of the time machine, which are going well. Trunks is jealous of himself who came from the future. He tries to be just as cool as this one and tries to impress Mai. But she only has eyes for the older of the two. The Trunks from the future spends the day with Son Gohan - who was his teacher in his timeline - and his family. Trunks is surprised how different Son Gohan is at this time, but is happy that he leads a happy family life. Beerus and Whis set out with Son Goku on their way into the tenth universe in order to investigate a clue about Black's identity.

Beerus, Whis and Son Goku arrive in the tenth universe, and inspect the Kaio Zamasu, who is in training to become a Kaioshin. They find that Zamasu's ki is very similar to Black's. This becomes particularly clear in a training fight between Zamasu and Son Goku, to which the three Zamasu can persuade with the help of his instructor. Zamasu has previously expressed his distaste for mortals, and has questioned whether mortals would be worth protecting by the Kaioshin when they are constantly doing evil. His instructor therefore wanted to use Son Goku's strength to demonstrate the potential and worth of mortals to him, but by doing so, he achieved the opposite.

Son Goku and Co. tell of their journey into the tenth universe, and their opinion that Zamasu and Black are probably different people. Trunks realizes that Vegeta and Son Goku are both more than strong enough to defeat Black, so he doesn't need to get stronger himself. However, Vegeta makes him change his mind again. In the tenth universe, Zamasu and his instructor observe a planet on which intelligent life has just formed, but which is extremely violent. You travel 1000 years into the future with a time ring in order to follow its development, but you have to discover that civilization has not developed any further. Meanwhile, Zeno contacts Beerus to meet with Goku.

Together with Whis and the Kaioshin of the seventh universe, Son Goku goes to Zeno as requested. He wants to make friends with Goku and spend time with him, as he finds his natural, fearless way of dealing with him refreshing. Son Goku puts Zeno off until later because he first has to defeat Black. But then he immediately invites Zeno to come to earth and promises to introduce him to an even better friend. Before he returns to earth, he receives a button from Zeno with which he can call Zeno immediately at any time. In universe 10, Zamasu kills an evil mortal and increasingly distances himself from the teachings of the Kaioshin. Bulma has fixed the time machine, so Trunks, Vegeta and Son Goku can set off into the future.

In the future, Son Goku, Vegeta and Trunks meet the resistance fighters who are taking action against Black. They take her to their secret headquarters, where the three discover that Mai is still alive. The three attract Black's attention, who promptly appears to fight them. Vegeta is the first to fight Black, whom he strongly dominates in his blue-haired form, until Black also transforms: into the pink-haired Super Saiyan Rosé, as which he easily defeats Vegeta. He can also overwhelm Son Goku. But when Black wants to kill Son Goku with the Kamehameha, Zamasu appears surprisingly and stops him. He announces that he wants to kill Son Goku himself.

Trunks and Son Goku fight against Zamasu and Black in the future, but cannot do anything against them. Zamasu in particular cannot be wounded; he claims to be immortal. Before the two kill Goku and Trunks, Vegeta uses the last of his strength to distract him so that Mai and the rebels can save the three seriously wounded. Mai puts the three in the time machine and sends them back to the present. She herself remains behind with the rebels. In the present, Zamasu learns about the Super Dragon Balls and sets out to find them.

Zamasu visits the omniscient Zuno to find out the location of the Super Dragon Balls. While Vegeta, Son Goku and Trunks are recovering from their future struggle, Beerus and Whis appear with the Kaioshin of the seventh universe and tell them about Zamasu's visit to Zuno. When Trunks and Co. described their experiences in the future, Whis speculates that Zamasu probably used the Super Dragon Balls to achieve immortality and to create a comrade in arms who can take on Son Goku - Black. Knowing now that Zamasu will be evil in the future, or already is, Son Goku, Beerus, Whis and the Kaioshin set out for Universe 10 to warn Zamasu's teacher.

Ultimately, however, they can be persuaded. With Boo going to be out, Son Goku suggests another fighter who could take his place: Freezer.

Sidra followed this advice promptly and instigated a group of contract killers on Freezer who attacked him when he had just been brought back by Uranai-Baba.

Freezer makes short work of the hit men and slaughters them mercilessly when the leader of the gang attacks him with a piece of destructive energy from Sidra. However, Freezer manages to survive the attack and throws it in turn at Son Goku. He has bigger problems not being completely wiped out by her. While Goku is incapacitated, Freezer negotiates with the gods of the ninth universe to overflow on their side. The conversation, however, is interrupted by Beerus and Whis, who have come to free Son Goku from the destructive energy.

Son Goku is almost knocked out of the ring because he only focuses on the strongest fighters Toppo and Jiren but ignores the weaker fighters. At the end of the episode there are 47 minutes left and 78 fighters left.

Thus there are only nine fighters left in the Seventh Universe. There are 43 minutes left until the end of the tournament.

Eventually she is stopped by Jiren, the strongest fighter in Universe 11, by knocking her unconscious. Son Goku immediately takes the opportunity to finally challenge Jiren to a fight.

Since the fighters of the sixth and seventh universes worked together in this fight, they decide not to fight each other for now.

When Hit finally gets the upper hand, another Fighter from Universe Eleventh steps in to help Dyspo. To make the fight fair again, Son Goku Hit comes to the rescue. During the fight he changes again and again between his Super Saiyan God form, which gives him more speed, and his blue Super Saiyan form, in which he can attack more strongly. In the end, Hit throws the one fighter of Universe Eleventh out of the ring; Dyspo manages to escape from Son Goku and Hit. There are still 35 minutes until the end of the tournament.

Master Roshi turns this off with the Mafuba. His third opponent is physically superior to him, and he only manages to stand up to him through years of experience. Finally he puts all his strength into a kamehameha to defeat the enemy; then he collapses lifeless. Son Goku then succeeds in reviving his old master.

One of the two has the ability to absorb energy attacks and then fire them again in a directional manner. While Vegeta and Son Goku fight the energy reflector with physical attacks, Tenshinhan attacks his partner. Tenshinhan is superior at first, but then his opponent shoots the ground away from under his feet; Tenshinhan falls out of the ring and is eliminated from the tournament, but at least he manages to pull his opponent with him.

Frost wants to throw the very weakened master of the turtles out of the ring. He defends himself and tries to seal Frost with the Mafuba in a bottle. Unfortunately, this fails. Frost is very impressed by this attack and turns the fight to Vegeta and Magetta. Since Vegeta seems to have difficulty fighting Frost and Magetta at the same time, the Lord of the Turtles tries the Mafuba again. Frost was just waiting for that: he countered the attack and managed to seal Vegeta in a bottle. With the last of his strength, however, the turtle lord can destroy the bottle and free Vegeta, who then angrily puts Frost to flight and throws Magetta out of the ring. Since he is finally at the end of his strength, the Lord of the Turtles also lets himself fall out of the ring. This leaves only 33 fighters in the tournament.

In his new form he can keep up with Jiren, but he soon runs out of strength and he returns to his basic form. Before Jiren can finally defeat Son Goku, Hit immediately takes action and attacks Jiren, hoping he would be distracted and weakened.

Eventually, Hit succeeds in keeping Jiren trapped in a time bubble, but even Jiren can free himself from it after a short time. He then finally defeated Hit and threw him out of the tournament. Since there are no more worthy opponents in the tournament, he leaves the rest to his comrades and begins to meditate. Half of the tournament is over, with 24 minutes remaining.

Encouraged, Cabba again faces the opponent who has beaten him and can throw her out of the ring by becoming a two-time Super Saiyan. Shortly afterwards he was mercilessly removed from the tournament by Freezer. Meanwhile, Son Gohan and Piccolo battle two Namekians from the Sixth Universe, and Vegeta faces Toppo. Caulifla manages to increase her strength rapidly during the fight, and when Kale intervenes in the fight, Son Goku is forced to even briefly become a three-time Super Saiyan. Out of the desire to be able to catch up with this strength, Kale releases her full power again, in which she previously lost control and destroyed large parts of the ring. Only Universe II wants to try, but then accidentally breaks its Potara earrings. Son Goku has great difficulties against Kefla and eventually even has to combine his blue-haired form with the Kaioken in order to be able to survive against Kefla in her Super Saiyan form. But then it collapses, exhausted, and returns to its basic form. Before Kefla can kick him out of the ring, he pulls himself up again and reaches his ultra-instinct state, in which he was able to keep up with Jiren for a short time.

Together, C 17 and C 18 manage to kick two of the fighters of the Second Universe out of the ring, leaving the Second Universe with only three fighters. Meanwhile, Son Gohan and Piccolo have a tough fight against the last two fighters of the Sixth Universe, the two Namekians Saonel and Pilina, each of which was created from the merger of countless Namekians. In the end, Son Goku manages to free himself and his two comrades from the black hole with a powerful Kamehameha and to throw the remaining fighters of the Second Universe out of the ring. Gohan can also eliminate his two opponents from the tournament with a Kamehameha. Without remaining fighters in the ring, the second and sixth universes are immediately and completely wiped out by the Zenos. This leaves only the Third, Fourth, Seventh, and Eleventh Universes.

The Fourth Universe is attempting a final wave of attacks, with fighters who have special skills. The first is invisible but can be thrown out of the ring after Gohan covers it with dust. The next fighter tries to confuse his opponents with illusions, but is also quickly thrown out of the tournament. The last fighter of the Fourth Universe is a tiny Beetle-man who is difficult to hit because of his size. He even succeeds in throwing Piccolo out of the tournament before he is finally catapulted out of the ring by C 17 himself. Since it no longer has any fighters, the fourth universe will also be destroyed. In the last 12 minutes of the tournament there are only three universes left.

The remaining fighters of the Third Universe take action; four robots and their builders. While C 17 and C 18 easily eliminate one of the robots from the tournament, Son Gohan fights alone against the other three robots to give Vegeta and his father a break. But when the three robots unite to form a single, even stronger robot, Son Goku and Vegeta give Son Gohan a helping hand. The three of them manage to push the giant robot back, but before they can throw it out of the ring, their builder announces that they still have an ace up their sleeve.

Ultimately, however, the monster can be defeated by C 17 destroying its energy source, while Son Gohan, Son Goku, Vegeta and Freezer keep it busy with an energy attack. With no fighters left, the Third Universe will also be wiped out. Now there are only two universes left in the tournament: the seventh and the eleventh. Son Goku and Vegeta, in turn, team up in the fight against Jiren. At first they have no chance against him, but then Vegeta manages to see through Jiren's attacks and to avoid them. He can break Jiren's defense and push him back. Finally, Jiren has had enough of Vegeta and knocks him to the ground.
