The genus Draparnaudia is the only genus of the family Draparnaudiidae from the suborder of land snails (Stylommatophora). The six species of the genus or family are native to New Caledonia and the New Hebrides . The genus is named after Jacques Philippe Raymond Draparnaud .
features
The casings are left-handed and of medium size. The housing shape ranges from conical to spherical. The mouth edge is always more or less bent back. The pine is crescent-shaped with only slight vertical stripes. The sole has a median pit. The kidney is relatively long with open ureters ( ureters ). In the hermaphroditic genital apparatus, the penis has only a short to very short flagellum . The penis retractor starts above the flagellum. The comparatively long prostate has many acini . The spermatic duct branches off at some distance from the albumin gland. The spermoviduct is of medium length.
Occurrence, way of life and distribution
The species of the genus Draparnaudia occur only in New Caledonia and the New Hebrides (Vanuatu). The occurrence on Vanuatu is even attributed to anthropogenic displacement.
