The stone slab spiders ( Drassodes ) is a genus in the family of flat-bellied spiders (Gnaphosidae) within the order of the web spiders . There are eight species of this genus in Central Europe , the most common representative in Germany being the common stone slab spider ( Drassodes lapidosus ).

The species are mostly yellow-brown to brown in color and thus resemble the representatives of the genus of the true sack spiders ( Clubiona ), from which they differ, however, by the long, tubular spinnerets , a family characteristic of the smooth-bellied spiders. During the day they usually live hidden under stones or bark and generally prefer dry biotopes. Some species can reach a size of up to 20 mm.
