Drau glacier
The Draugletscher is a Pleistocene glacier , which, starting roughly from the Großglockner , followed roughly today's course of the Drau to the east and ended during its greatest expansion in the Würm in the Klagenfurt basin at Dullach I (municipality of Völkermarkt ), near Ruden . The ice masses of the glacier not only filled the Drau valley , but also flowed over the lower mountain ranges through its side valleys. Its thickness at Villach is assumed to be 900 m and its width to be 30 km. Most of the Carinthian lakes , in particular the Wörthersee , Millstätter See and Weißensee , are also traced back to the activities of the Draugletscher.
