Reinhold Christian Schelle

Reinhold Christian Schelle (born December 31, 1845 in Biberach an der Riss ; † September 4, 1930 ibid) was a German businessman and manufacturer. He founded the Wieland Museum in Biberach an der Riss.

Reinhold Christian Schelle came from the marriage of his father, Christian Raimund August (1815–1867), also a manufacturer, with Sophie Blassnek (1820–1884).

Since October 4, 1870 Reinhold Schelle was with Elisabeth Sophie, geb. Hiller (born November 25, 1850 in Biberach, † March 20, 1944 in Biberach), married.

From 1867 to 1910 he ran the inherited Schelle-Blassnek trimmings factory, which was one of the seven major factories in the city of Biberach. His son Eugen Schelle took over the management of the company in 1910.

In 1901 Schelle was a founding member of the Kunst- und Altertums-Verein (today Society for Home Care Biberach eV ), to which he proposed to set up a Wieland cabinet. The property with Wieland's garden house was purchased in 1905 and the museum was opened in 1907. Schelle was director of the museum until his death in 1930. His grave is still in the Old Evangelical Cemetery in Biberach.

On October 22nd, 1920 Reinhold Christian Schelle was made an honorary citizen of the city of Biberach.
