In 1668, what was then the New Town Hall was converted into a Trinity Church for the Evangelical Lutheran parish after the previous St. Jacob's Church had been handed over to a Catholic nunnery.

In 1818 this building was demolished due to major structural defects under the new old Prussian church administration and replaced by a new church building. This was inaugurated in 1824.

The Protestant parishes now located in Poland through the resurgence of Poland formed the Uniate Evangelical Church in Poland at the beginning of the 1920s . In 1927 the Trinity Church passed from the hands of the Uniate Churches to an Orthodox parish. The building has been used as a storage room since 1939.

In 1994 the church was restored and has been used for various cultural purposes ever since.
