The wayside shrine in Nordheim

The so-called Dreifaltigkeitsmarter in Nordheim am Main is one of the many wayside shrines in the Franconian wine town. It is located on Raiffeisenstrasse on the edge of the village.

history

The wayside shrine was made in 1722. An inscription in the base proves this: “In honor of the H: / Trinity and the / Heavenly Queen Maria, the honorable Hieronimo Römelt Ana / Maria had / let his wife make this shrine anhero the 30. Maÿ / 17 22 ". The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the wayside shrine as a monument under the number D-6-75-155-38.

description

The torture rests on a rectangular base with an inscription called swe. It is framed by a medallion surrounded by a fruit ornament . A vaulted superstructure leads over to the angular column, which tapers slightly towards the top. A coat of arms , probably that of the founder Hieronymus Römmelt, is on the shaft. Above it hangs a fruit ornament in a stone ring. An iron fitting leads over to the attachment.

Fruit ornament is again attached below the scene of three-dimensional figures. The coronation of Mary is depicted above it: Mary , with her hand on her breast, is put on a crown. She is surrounded by Jesus with the cross and God the Father who holds the orb in his hands. The Holy Spirit hovers over the person. On the back there is a half-relief of St. Jerome with a cross in the clouds .
