Trinity column on Jedlersdorfer Strasse

The Trinity Column is a baroque memorial column made of sand-lime stone on the Marchfeld Canal at the intersection of Jedlersdorfer Strasse and Tulzergasse in the 21st Viennese district of Floridsdorf .

history

The column was erected in 1776 as a crossroads column.

description

A square base with a crest cartouche on the front rises above the two-tiered pedestal . There is an inscription on the back. A short, slightly bulbous round column rises above the base. This is crowned by a typical mercy seat representation. God the Father is enthroned on a cloud throne and holds a crucifix with both hands between his knees. A pigeon is shown below.

The year "1776" is on the base. The inscription on the back is no longer legible today. According to Kapner / Westerhoff it is: "The Most Holy Trinity for praise ... / Anno 1776 ..."
