The Drever is a Swedish breed of dog recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.3, Standard No. 130 ).
Origin and history
The basis for breeding the breed was the German Westphalian Dachsbracke , a small hound that was imported to Sweden in 1910 . In addition, breeders from Sweden, Finland and Norway crossed related hounds from England , the nearby Baltic States and Switzerland . In 1947 the Drever was recognized as a Swedish breed. The name Drever comes from the Swedish "drev", which means "to hunt". He is the smallest Swedish hunting dog .
description
The Drever is a small hunting dog with harsh fur that lies close and straight to the body. There are different colors of fur with white markings, but monochrome white or liver-brown animals do not belong to the breed. The ears are set rather low, medium-long and wide, pendulous and without folds, fitting close to the cheeks with rounded tips.
use
The Drever is used as a hunting or tracking dog . He hunts very loudly , not very fast, but very sure with a fine nose. The dog is primarily used for roe deer , but also for red deer, foxes, hares and rabbits. It is kept almost exclusively as a working hunting dog.
