Threatening clouds in the firmament is a German silent film melodrama from 1918 with Fern Andra in the lead role.

action

The doctor Alfred makes a bizarre bet with his friend Hans: He claims that he can commit a break-in without getting caught. Alfred actually gets away with his captor, but loses his wallet if he breaks it. Hans finds them and uses this evidence to make Alfred's wife Fern compliant for his less than honorable wishes. Alfred overhears a conversation between the two and now believes that Fern might cheat on him.

The dramatic development in Ferns and Alfred's marital crisis only finds its release when both children find themselves in dire straits. Alfred's operation saves the child and the couple are reconciled.
