JD Küster printing company

The JD Küster printing company is a company based in Bielefeld ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) that was independent until it was bought by the Wilhelm Bertelsmann publishing house in 1870. Its beginnings go back to the year 1661.

The magazine Das Westphälische Dampfboot was printed here as early as 1846 and the weekly newspaper Westfälischer Volksfreund was printed here in 1848 . The Bielefelder Tagblatt , the predecessor of today's Neue Westfälische , was also created in this printing house.

The company still exists today under the name JD Küster Nachf. + Presse-Druck GmbH & Co. KG and belongs to the Neue Westfälische.
