Pneumatic nailer

Pneumatic nailer

A pneumatic nailer (also: nail gun) is a pneumatic tool with which magazined nails are driven or shot into various materials.

The magazine is used to store several nails in such a way that the pneumatic nailer can pull them in and nail them one after the other, without the operator having to insert each nail individually into the machine. The nails are either arranged in a row one after the other or are used as coil nails as a roll in a drum. To ensure that the nails remain in the correct order when they are inserted in the magazine, they are attached to one another with wire, glue, paper or a plastic band.

functionality

With the help of compressed air , a so-called “driver” is set in motion; this hits the nail on its head and drives it into the material. With modern devices, the driver is transported back to its starting position using compressed air. The next nail is transported under the driver using a spring or, in the case of coil nails, an air piston and transport gripper. The nailer is now ready to use the next nail.

Drive types

  • Compressor with air hose (most common method)
  • Compressed air cylinder (pressure vessel with high pressure and reducing valve)
  • Gas cartridge (aluminum cylinder filled with butane / propane)
  • Fusion technique (closed cycle filled with nitrogen)
  • Cordless nailer (powerful lithium-ion battery generates compressed air or drives a flywheel)
