Pressure sensitive color

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pressure-sensitive color ( English pressure sensitive paint , PSP) is a measurement method to local pressure distributions on boundary surfaces to make them visible. The advantage of this measurement method is that no interfering sensors affect the flow field .

functionality

Fluorescent molecules are bound in a thin layer of paint in an oxygen- permeable matrix and are excited by light of a certain wavelength . The fluorescent light is captured by color cameras. Local pressure increases the fluorescence quenching via the activity of the oxygen . The intensity of the scattered light is therefore inversely proportional to the local pressure. The effect can be calibrated by drilling a wall hole and measuring the pressure locally .
