Druivenstreek
Druivenstreek ( Grape Region ) is the name of a rural area in Flanders , southeast of Brussels in the province of Flemish Brabant , which, as the name suggests, has long been known as a growing area for table grapes. The cultivation area extends over the area of the Brabant communities Overijse , Huldenberg , Hoeilaart and Tervuren .
In the illustrated flag ( gemeentevlag ) of the municipality of Overijse, the affiliation to the Druivenstreek can be clearly seen. The so-called Druivenfeesten take place in the town every year in late summer . One of the highlights of these events is the Druivenkoers , a cycling race that first took place in 1961.
The Druivenstreek forms the southern portion of between Brussels and lion extending Dijlelandes and is thus a part of the rural green belt ( Groene Gordel ) surrounding the capital Brussels.
