The Javakheti National Park ( Georgian ჯავახეთის ეროვნული პარკი , Javakhetis erownuli parki; English transcription Javakheti ) is a national park in the Georgian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti .
location
The 14,200 hectare park covers an area on the territory of the Akhalkalaki and Ninozminda municipalities . It extends on the southern edge of the Akhalkalaki plateau or the Javakheti highlands from Lake Karzachi , the entire shore area of which it includes on the Georgian side, along the state border with Turkey and Armenia to a little east of the border triangle, where the at 2980 m above the Sea level is the highest point of the park.
Five smaller reserves connected to the park (Georgian აღკვეთილი , aghkwetili ) around the villages and Karzachi Sulda in the municipality Akhalkalaki and the lakes Bughdascheni , Chantschali and Madatapa in the municipality Ninotsminda.

Javakheti National Park was designated in 2011. It is part of a transnational protected area: The Arpisee National Park joins in Armenia . The national park is characterized by tree-free steppes and sub-alpine grasslands as well as lakes and wetlands. Migratory birds, for example, spend the winter there . The visitor and administration building of the Javakheti National Park in Akhalkalaki was built and financed with the support of WWF and KfW Bank .
