Dušan Bestvina (born April 21, 1981 in Trnava , ČSSR ) is a Slovak football player on the position of a defender . He currently plays for FC Mistelbach in the Lower Austria regional league , the highest division in Lower Austria and one of the eight fourth-highest division in Austria .

Career

Beginnings at home

Bestvina began his active career as a football player in his hometown with FC Spartak Trnava , for which he was already active in the youth. After he went through several youth leagues, he came in 1998 for the first time in the squad of the professional team. Until the winter crossing of the season 2000/01 he then completed 23 league games without a goal for Trnava, before moving to Banska Bystrica , the resident, the sixth largest city in Slovakia FK Dukla Banská Bystrica changed that its gaming operations since 1993 in the Corgoň league , the top division in Slovak football. After only one year, however, he returned to Trnava and subsequently fought for a place in the regular squad, which he was denied from 1998 to 2001. After his return, he completed 38 league games with a goal this season for Spartak.

As a legionnaire in Austria and Scotland

In 2005, after around five years as a professional footballer, Bestvina moved to FC Mistelbach , whose team had participated in the 2003/04 ÖFB Cup . At that time, as at the time of Bestvina's change, the team played in the Lower Austrian regional league, one of the eight fourth-highest division in Austria. With the Lower Austrians he was in the regular squad until he left in 2007 and so came to a large number of assignments.

After more than two years in the lower class, Bestvina made another big step towards professional football in mid-September 2007 when he moved to FC Clyde in Scotland . The club's fighting team played in the Scottish Football League First Division , the second highest division in Scottish football. The then 26-year-old defensive all-rounder made his team debut immediately after signing on September 15, 2007 against Queen of the South FC . The match ended in a 1-1 away draw; Bestvina was in action for the full length of the game. After some league appearances for the professional team, he scored on March 22, 2008 again in a game against Queen of the South FC his first goal. But instead of the opponent's goal, the defender hit his own goal in the 88th minute of play and sealed the 4-1 home defeat against the club from Dumfries .

After he completed a total of 23 championship games for FC Clyde, he and his teammate, goalkeeper David Hutton , were presented with contracts with a term of 18 months in January 2008, which both players then signed. In contrast to his colleague Hutton, Bestvina already got out of the contract in June 2008 and was one of two players alongside Christian Smith who left the club at the same time.

Back to Austria

His next stop took the defender back to Austria to his former club, FC Mistelbach, whose fighting team is still in the Lower Austria regional league. For the club he has so far been used in 40 championship games and scored one goal.
