The Du Toit Mountains are a 55 km long, 16 km wide and up to 1700  m high mountain in southeastern Palmer land on the Antarctic Peninsula . They tower southwest of the Wilson Mountains and are bounded by the Beaumont Glacier , Maury Glacier, and Defant Glacier .

The first aerial photographs were taken in 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). United States Navy aerial photographs from 1966 to 1969 were used for mapping purposes by the United States Geological Survey . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain range after the South African geologist Alexander Du Toit (1878-1948), who was one of the few scientists who supported Alfred Wegener 's theory of continental drift in the first half of the 20th century .
