Dubai Sports City
Dubai Sports City is an Olympic-themed sports themed world under construction in Dubai , United Arab Emirates .
The new, permanently inhabited district, costing around 4 billion US dollars, was partially opened in 2011, covers an area of 4.6 square kilometers and is the northern part of the major DubaiLand project . On the eastern edge u. a. four large arenas built:
- a multi-purpose stadium for athletics, cricket, football and rugby for 60,000 spectators (currently stopped in the shell)
- a pure cricket stadium for 25,000 spectators - opened on May 7, 2009
- a closed arena (for basketball, handball, etc.) for 10,000 spectators
- a field hockey stadium for 5000 spectators (the latter not yet started)
There are also professional academies for tennis, hockey, swimming, cricket and soccer. Stars, talents and trainers from all over the world should receive all-round care there. Ambitious parents are offered professional early childhood exercise and exercise classes for their offspring as soon as they can walk. The catchment area of Dubai is not its only 1.6 million inhabitants, but its more distant hinterland - the Indian subcontinent with India and Pakistan, also with Iran and parts of Africa, where together 1.3 billion people live. Dubai Sports City should quickly develop into a top-class event location with the best teams and athletes in the world, a training center for the young, global sports elite, and a place of high-level exchange between skills.
It has luminaries won the Sports guild to lend to its prestige project further luster. Champions League winner Manchester United stands for the football academy. Due to the financial crisis, many of the buildings started in Sports City were either discontinued or postponed to a later start; In Dubai, the reduced construction activities since 2009 have primarily been concentrated on the central projects from the investment and financial sector. Nonetheless, it can be assumed that Sports City will be continued in the foreseeable future due to its already achieved level of implementation of around 60 percent.
