The Dubai International Cricket Stadium (formerly Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium) is a cricket stadium in Dubai , United Arab Emirates . The stadium opened in 2009 and is part of the Dubai Sports City .

Capacity and infrastructure

The stadium has 25,000 seats. With the help of temporary seats, the capacity can be increased to 30,000. The specialty of the stadium is that there are no conventional floodlight masts. The lighting system is integrated evenly into the round stadium roof. The lighting system consisting of 350 lamps is known as the "Ring of Fire". The new lighting system means that objects cast fewer shadows on the field. The two wicket ends are called Emirates Road End and Dubai Sports City End .

International cricket

After the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team, the Pakistani cricket board was looking for neutral, safe stadiums. The decision was made for 3 stadiums in the United Arab Emirates. International matches of the Pakistani national cricket team have been held here since 2009 . During the Indian Premier League 2014 , the stadium was the venue for seven preliminary round matches. The stadium has hosted the Pakistan Super League since 2016 . In the 2016 Pakistan Super League , 15 of the 25 matches were played here, and 13 matches were held here in the 2017 season .
