Pakistan Super League 2016

The Pakistan Super League in 2016 was the first season of the Twenty20 discharged format Pakistan Super League for Pakistani cricket - franchises . It took place from February 4th to 23rd, 2016. Islamabad United won the final with 6 wickets against the Quetta Gladiators .

prehistory

Five teams took part in the Pakistan Super League in the first season. As it was the first edition of the league, the rights for the teams were put up for auction by the Pakistani cricket board. The franchise rights were granted in Karachi in December 2015 for approx. 93 million US dollars for a term of 10 years. There were 7 companies participating in the auction. The ARY Group received the highest award for a franchise for the rights to the Karatschi franchise for 2.6 million US dollars.

2016 Pakistan Super League host cities

Because of the attack on the Sri Lanka team in 2009, many games of the Pakistani teams will be held in the United Arab Emirates for security reasons . 15 of the 25 matches were held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the remaining 10 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
