The Dubbi is a 1625 meter high stratovolcano in Eritrea on the Red Sea . There are at least 19 small volcanic craters on its summit .

Volcanic activity

An eruption with lava flows up to the coast is reported around 1400.

The eruption in May 1861 was very explosive with precipitation of ashes up to 300 km away. In addition, lava flows poured out that covered 22 km to the coast. The outbreak destroyed two locations, killing 105 people and several herds of cattle. With a volume of 3.5 km³ of lava, the 1861 eruption is the largest in African history.
