Dudeism
Dudeism (The Church of the Latter-Day Dude) is a philosophy and attitude to life that was developed in 2005 by the journalist Oliver Benjamin from the film character Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski (played by Jeff Bridges in the movie The Big Lebowski / Coen Brothers , 1998) .

Elements of the dudeistic worldview are the Chinese Taoism , thoughts of Epicurus and the fatalistically relaxed actions and ways of thinking of the "dude" shown in the film.
It is not clear whether dudeism is to be regarded as a fully-fledged religion, but there are currently over 160,000 “priests” (official followers) of the religion, including in Germany the criminal biologist Mark Benecke . The central script is The Tao Dude Ching / The Dude De Ching (2009), in which the Tao Te Ching is combined with dialogues and storylines from the film The Big Lebowski . There are also regular meetings of supporters of dudeism (Dude Fests ) .
