Allée couverte by Kerantiec
The Allée couverte von Kerantiec (also called Allee-couverte von Riec-sur-Belon ) is a megalithic complex near the municipality of Riec-sur-Bélon in the Finistère department in Brittany in France .
It is an allée couverte of the arcboutée or à dalles inclinées type , of which there are only eight copies in Brittany. Systems of this type represent the simplest form of an enclosed space using megaliths. The special thing about them is that the side stones are placed against each other like struts and horizontal cap stones have generally been dispensed with.
The east-west oriented system is about 12 m long. 14 monoliths have been preserved . Eight stones form the southern, steeply sloping row. The six stones in the north are almost vertical. The entrance was in the east. The clear width of the room is one meter. The stones of the monument are made of migmatite and gneiss , which occur locally.
In Cornwall , south of the Monts d'Arrée in the Montagnes Noires and the Landes de Lanvaux some of these rare monuments have been preserved. The facilities in Melgven, the Loge-au-Loup near Trédion and Castel-Ruffel near Saint-Goazec are similar .
The Kerscao Dolmen is nearby .
