Riec-sur-Bélon is a French commune with 4185 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Finistère department in the Brittany region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Quimper and the canton of Moëlan-sur-Mer .
The municipality of Riec-sur-B e lon wrote itself until January 1, 2013 and has been called Riec-sur-B é lon since then (see INSEE).
geography
The municipality is located about 30 kilometers northwest of Lorient and 35 kilometers southeast of Quimper in the Cornouaille countryside . Neighboring municipalities to Riec-sur-Bélon are:
- Le Trévoux in the northeast,
- Baye in the east,
- Moëlan-sur-Mer in the southeast,
- Névez in the southwest,
- Pont-Aven to the west and
- Bannalec in the northwest.
Riec-sur-Bélon has a portion of the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean in the extreme southwest of the municipality . Here the estuaries of the two rivers Aven and Bélon flow into the sea and form a headland . The municipality's capital is about five kilometers inland on the Dourdu River , a tributary of the Bélon.
Transport links
The municipal area is served by the departmental roads D783 (from Concarneau via Riec to Quimperlé ) and by the D24 (from Riec via Moëlan-sur-Mer to Guidel ). The D4 also leads to Bannalec and offers a connection to the Route Nationale N165 , which crosses the municipality in the north.

Attractions
In addition to a large number of finds from the Neolithic , such as menhirs , rows of stones ( Allée couverte von Kerantiec ) and dolmen ( Dolmen von Kerscao ), there are other sights in the municipality:

Port facilities for boats were set up in the estuary of the rivers. The estuary of the Bélon River is particularly known for its oyster farming .
