Plomelin ( Breton: Ploveilh ) is a commune in the Finistère department in Brittany . The municipality belongs to the canton of Quimper-1 in the Arrondissement of Quimper . Plomelin has 4171 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), the French called Plomelinois .
Plomelin is about seven kilometers southwest of Quimper on the Odet River .

economy
The Menhir Distillery produces high quality brandies and whiskeys. Buckwheat is used instead of barley malt (well-known brand: Eddu ). There are numerous hiking trails in the municipality for tourism.
