Saint-Jean-Trolimon ( Breton Sant Yann Drolimon ) is a commune in western France in the Finistère department in Brittany . In the vicinity of Penmarc'h , 962 people live on an area of 14.68 km² (as of January 1, 2017).
history
There is contradicting information about the origin of the name. According to the most likely version - also widespread by the municipality itself - the name comes from Breton: Treff ("village") and Sankt Rumon, thus roughly "village of St. Rumon". In the Middle Ages the hamlet was under the parish of today's Plomeur . The parish and parish were founded in the course of the French Revolution after 1789.

Attractions
The parish church is the church of St-Jean-Baptiste in the town center with a west facade from the 16th century. A little outside the village is the Notre-Dame de Tronoën (Bret. Tronoan ) church, in front of it the oldest Calvaire in Brittany. Only a few kilometers away you will find the Pointe de la Torche headland with the dolmen (Bret. Beg an Dorchenn ) - and rocks, a very popular surfing area. The St-Evy chapel is located in an exclave of the municipality .
