The place is located in the southwest of Brittany on the Atlantic coast . Quimper is 25 kilometers north, Brest 67 kilometers north and Paris about 500 kilometers east (as the crow flies ).

Economy and Infrastructure
The Guilvinec economy is shaped by fishing. One of the most important fishing ports in Brittany is located here. After Boulogne-sur-Mer , the largest amount of fish caught was sold here in 2011 (17,985 t), the value of which far exceeded that of the fish sold in other Breton ports (65,825,000 euros).
At Quimper, the next exit is on the expressway E 60 / N 165 (Brest– Nantes ) and a regional train station is on the mostly parallel railway line.
Brest train station is the terminus of the TGV Atlantique to Paris. The nearest regional airports are Lorient Bretagne Sud Airport near Lorient and Brest Airport near Brest.
